Gail King - Managing Director

Driven to achieve the best possible for every client, Gail focuses on the ‘big picture’ well beyond text. That means that, whether the project is a tender submission or a brochure, she manages projects with an eye to helping clients win more business. A skilled and experienced interviewer, writer, editor and project manager, Gail adds significant value to each Word Sense project and motivates her team to do the same. She is a qualified, skilled journalist with a successful background in sales, marketing, public relations and business ownership: it is a unique combination that gives clients confidence that their project is in good hands. She has been writing, editing and project managing tender and proposal submissions for more than seven years. Gail has a Bachelor of Arts with Senior Prizes in English and Psychology, and a post graduate Diploma in Journalism from AUT University.

Alison Sims - Senior Writer (Tenders and Marketing Material)

Since mid-2007 Alison has project managed, written and edited a wide range of tender submissions and marketing documents. She has an extensive knowledge of the content required for a successful tender submission and, having been a journalist for more than 19 years, is highly skilled at drawing key information from clients during the interview phase: the result is a first-class tender document. With a natural flare for creativity and experience in the public relations sector, Alison can just as easily turn her hand to writing marketing material such as websites, brochures, company profiles and newsletters. She’s professional and highly committed to doing her very best for our clients.

Bronwen Jones - Senior Writer (Tenders and Marketing Material)

A valued newcomer to our team, Bronwen joined us in early 2010 bringing 20 years’ experience in journalism, business management, corporate communications and public relations to our clients. From day one at Word Sense, our clients have benefited from her outstanding professional performance including excellent interviewing, editing and writing skills. She has extensive experience in writing annual and sustainability reports, and non-price attributes sections for tender and proposal documents, and is skilled at writing a wide range of marketing material. As well as a Diploma in Journalism, she has a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Creative Writing.

Sheila Mandeno - Operations Manager

Efficient, friendly, always helpful, and with a strong background in administration, Sheila guides our team, and often our clients, through each project. She programmes your projects into our schedules, ensures that critical deadlines for each project are met, and keeps our internal systems operating efficiently to cope with continued growth. We tell her she’s our ‘left and right arm’ – and we know our clients also appreciate her professionalism, even when she is phoning them with a gentle prompt to send documents that we might be waiting for or to read text we have emailed them!

Deborah Benson - Editor

Deborah has had more than 20 years' experience as a reporter, chief reporter, sub-editor, editor and business journalist, and has worked on an extensive range of projects for Word Sense clients since 2003. Her meticulous editing, excellent interviewing skills and versatile writing styles are a key component of our consistently high performance.

Sally Reid - Special Projects Writer and Editor

With more than 40 years experience as a journalist and sub-editor for a vast range of publications, Sally is highly-valued as a senior writer and editor. She is intermittently assigned to selected Word Sense projects.

Stuart King - Accounts Manager

Stuart handles all accounting matters and financial reporting at Word Sense.
